Os cartões inteligentes de motorista foram introduzidos para evitar infrações de horas de condução. Se no início do dia de trabalho um motorista estiver envolvido em tarefas não relacionadas à condução longe do veículo, ele deve inserir manualmente um registro das outras atividades de trabalho no tacógrafo digital ao assumir o controle do veículo.
Driver smart cards were introduced to prevent driving hours offences. If at the start of the working day a driver is engaged in non-driving duties away from the vehicle, they should manually enter a record of the other work activities into the digital tachograph when they take the vehicle in charge.
