Question 1091 · Truck theory test
What is the most common cause of skidding?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Excessive speed for the circumstances or conditions.
Official explanation
Excessive speed for the road conditions is a factor which can reduce the grip of tyres on the road and can cause or contribute to a skid. Drivers should adjust their speed to suit the road and traffic conditions and should be aware that wet or greasy roads, worn or improperly inflated tyres, mud, leaves, ice or snow can all cause a vehicle to skid.
