Official explanation
Drivers are required to take a daily rest period of at least 11 hours. This can be broken down into one uninterrupted period of 3 hours and a second uninterrupted period of at least 9 hours. Drivers may take their rest periods in a parked vehicle only if the vehicle is fitted with a bunk.
