What is good basic first aid for a person who has been burned?

Official explanation
When a person has been burned, firstly check the person for shock, then try to cool the burn if you can. Try to find water or other liquid that is clean, cold, and non-toxic to pour on it. The cool liquid may cool the affected area down and reduce damage. The person should be advised to seek medical advice as soon as possible.
