Question 1638 · Truck theory test
Why should ropes not be used to tie down a load of steel girders?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Because they may wear and snap.
Official explanation
Sharp edges on steel girders can cause the ropes to fray and snap, with the result that a load becomes insecure. If a load has sharp edges, drivers should use web straps with suitable sleeves to protect the webbing from the sharp edges.
