Question 224 · Car theory test
What effect does a wet road surface have on a vehicle's braking ability?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Generally, it doubles the braking distance of that required on a dry surface.
Official explanation
When it is wet, your tyres do not grip the road surface as well as when it is dry, and your stopping distance is increased. For these reasons, you should slow down during or after rain and keep a greater distance from the vehicle in front.
