After overtaking another vehicle, what should a driver do?

Official explanation
After overtaking, check your mirrors, signal, and return to your normal lane position as soon as it is safe. Take a smooth, easy line, gradually moving back in and allowing the other vehicle plenty of space, and don't cut in sharply.
