Motorway signs in Ireland
Motorway signs are blue with white lettering. The countdown markers to an exit and the toll-plaza lane signs are the ones that come up most in the theory test.

100 m to the next exit
100 metres to the next exit.
This is a motorway information sign that tells you that the next exit off the motorway is 100 metres ahead.

200 m to the next exit
200 metres to the next exit.
This is a motorway information sign that tells you that the next exit off the motorway is 200 metres ahead.

300 m to the next exit
Three hundred metres to the next exit.
This is a motorway information sign that tells you that the next exit off the motorway is 300 metres ahead.

Coin basket lane
Coin basket in this lane.
This sign is used at toll plazas to direct traffic into a lane where the toll charge may be paid by putting the exact change into an automatic coin machine. This lane usually has a height barrier fitted to prevent large vehicles using it.

Electronic toll
Electronic toll accepted in any lane.
This sign is used at toll plazas to direct traffic into a lane where the toll charge is collected electronically. When the vehicle passes through the plaza, it is identified by means of an electronic tag fitted to the front windscreen. Payment will be collected via the user's account. Only vehicles fitted with the tags are allowed to use those lanes.

End of motorway
This sign indicates the end of the motorway. You are leaving the motorway, and its rules will no longer apply.

Entry to motorway
This road sign informs road users that they are entering the motorway and must obey motorway rules. Before driving on the motorway, users must familiarise themselves with motorway rules.

Motorway ends in 500 m
Motorway ends 500 metres ahead.
This is a motorway information sign that tells you that the motorway will end in 500 metres ahead. Motorway rules will no longer apply; for example, a lower speed limit may be applicable.

Toll collector lane
Toll collector operating lane.
This sign is used at toll plazas to direct traffic into a lane where the toll charge may be paid directly to a cashier. This lane would normally be used by motorists who have neither the exact change nor an electronic tag on their vehicle.
