Question 3097 · Motorcycle theory test
A motorcyclist has moved closer to the vehicle in front prior to overtaking it. What should they be most aware of?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
The driver in front may brake suddenly.
Official explanation
As you approach the vehicle in front prior to overtaking it, you should be aware that you will have less time to react if the driver in front accelerates, slows or brakes suddenly. You should therefore assess all the hazards on the road ahead before taking up this position, and if the overtaking opportunity does not arise you should fall back to a safe following distance.
