Question 1163 · Truck theory test
What should a driver do when coming to a stop while driving a half loaded tanker which is not divided into compartments?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Ease off the footbrake.
Official explanation
When braking in a partially loaded tanker, you should be aware of the wave effect caused by the motion of the fluid in the tank. This may cause the vehicle to surge forward when you ease pressure on the brakes. For this reason you should ease off the brake gently.
