Official explanation
The tachograph chart records a driver’s driving hours, vehicle speed, and distance covered. It is used to check that the driver takes at least the legal minimum amount of rest and does not exceed the legal maximum driving hours in a day, week or fortnight. For tachograph purposes, the week starts at 00:00 hours on Monday and finishes at 24:00 hours on Sunday.
