Question 1656 · Truck theory test
What should the driver of a large vehicle consider before overtaking another large vehicle?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
The width and condition of the road.
Official explanation
Before overtaking another large vehicle, the driver of a large vehicle needs to assess the road ahead, and take into consideration the size and speed of the vehicle they are driving and the size and speed of the vehicle they intend overtaking. They should be sure that they can complete the manoeuvre safely. Extra clearance is needed to overtake wider vehicles safely. If the road is uneven, the stability of the vehicle can be affected. The driver may need to wait for a safer place to overtake.
