Question 1813 · Truck theory test
How can a driver reduce speed without using the footbrake?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
By lifting their foot off the accelerator.
Official explanation
If a driver reads the road ahead and reacts early enough, they can generally (unless going downhill) reduce speed simply by taking their foot off the accelerator. This style of driving prolongs the life of the vehicle’s brakes, reduces fuel consumption and emissions, and improves passenger comfort.
