Question 3140 · Motorcycle theory test
Why should a motorcyclist stay well back from the vehicle in front while riding?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
It allows the rider a safer stopping distance.
Official explanation
In normal conditions, motorcyclists should maintain at least a two-second gap from the vehicle in front, and more in poor conditions. This gap gives them sufficient room to brake safely in the event that the vehicle in front slows or changes direction suddenly. It also allows the motorcyclist to see the road in front of the vehicle ahead.
