Question 3044 · Motorcycle theory test
What should a motorcyclist do when descending a long, steep and winding road?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Use the brakes periodically on the straight only.
Official explanation
When descending a long, steep and winding road it is essential that motorcyclists maintain control over their speed by the safe use of the braking system. This includes using a combination of engine braking and the normal braking when upright and in a straight line. On approach to bends brake early and complete braking before the bend. Braking in a bend can cause the bike to straighten up and possible loss of control.
