Question 3146 · Motorcycle theory test
What in particular should a motorcyclist be aware of when approaching a junction from which a vehicle is emerging?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
The driver of the emerging vehicle may not have seen the motorcyclist.
Official explanation
Junctions are particularly hazardous for motorcyclists because of their narrow profile. This makes them more difficult to see and caution should therefore be taken when approaching junctions. In addition, many drivers do not take proper observations when emerging from a side road, and may fail to notice a motorcyclist. Motorcyclists should bear this in mind when approaching junctions with side roads. They should increase their own visibility by wearing full hi-vis clothing and have headlamp/s on at all times.
