Question 3149 · Motorcycle theory test
What final checks should a motorcyclist make just before making a U-turn?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Take a ‘life saver’ look and check the road is clear in both directions.
Official explanation
A ‘life saver’ look is the last look over the left and/or right shoulder to check the blind spot area which is not covered by the mirrors to ensure nothing unexpected is happening before carrying out a manoeuvre. As vulnerable road users, motorcyclists should carry out this check before moving off, before making a significant change to their positioning on the road, and before making a U-turn.
