Question 3047 · Motorcycle theory test
How should braking force be distributed when stopping a motorcycle on a straight road in wet or slippery conditions?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
Apply the same amount of pressure to both brakes.
Official explanation
To stop safely in wet conditions requires different operation of the brakes than in dry conditions. When braking in wet conditions, equal pressure should be applied to both brakes. Many modern motorcycles have linked braking systems which can mean that when one lever is pressed it operates both brakes. Motorcyclists should use the vehicle’s handbook to familiarise themselves with the safe operation of the vehicle controls.
