Question 1556 · Truck theory test
What in particular should the driver of a large vehicle be aware of when passing pedestrians?
Pick an answer to test yourself.
Correct answer
That the pedestrians can be affected by the vehicle’s slipstream.
Official explanation
The driver of a large vehicle should always show due care and consideration for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians. This is particularly important in rural areas where there are no footpaths, and in bad weather. Spray, dust or debris thrown up from the wheels can make it difficult for the pedestrian to see, and the air turbulence created by the vehicle can blow them off course.
